I still dont know a single person using it, so never had the chance to have a peek at the dx set-up. MY apologies, I got the "DX12 only" from another LOTRO thread some time back, when people first started having issues running LOTRO on Win10. I suppose this post will be seen as "sponsored by M$" Put another way, it's more a problem with LotRO's installer than with Windows. But, alas, the LotRO installer fails to do so. And those which do depend upon them should be installing them appropriately on every edition of Windows (not just Windows 10). One suspects that games that don't depend upon such extensions will run fine in DX9 mode on Windows 10. The recommended way of obtaining which is installing the runtimes. I have a new issue with Win10 now that I won't get into because in the end it's mostly a personal issue but still darn (trying to keep it clean) annoying and cannot find a fix.LotRO doesn't fail to run appropriately on Windows 10 because Windows 10 is lacking DirectX 9 compatibility overall but rather because a couple of very particular DirectX extensions aren't included by default in Windows 10 (and perhaps every other edition of modern/supported Windows) and LotRO fails to install those extensions as it should.Īs documented here, all that's needed for Windows 10 to run LotRO fine in DX9, DX10, or DX11 mode are two or three DX extension files. It also doesn't help that just about every month M$ puts out updates there is one issue or another, the main one seems to be screw up audio settings for streamers and content creators and I didn't want to have to deal with any of that. The only reason I haven't gone to Win10 is that I have yet to see a need to force myself to. Also keep in mind that I am a pessimist and I sort of kind of understand the mind set of developers. To be honest, I'm not holding my breath that they will fix it. The last support message was that they would pass this along. I also asked them to pass the issue over to the UC devs so they could come up with a fix. In the end I explained to them that the problem is not with any of the games on their launcher but instead it's a problem with the last update of the launcher basically crippling Win7 users, which there are still plenty of. I closed my case with Ubisoft Support because there was no point keeping it open.
